I know how challenging endometriosis can be—the pain, the exhaustion, the feeling of constantly having to search for a better solution. The helplessness, the uncertainty. The pain. Many of my friends tell me about similar experiences. If you feel the same way, I have a tip for you: period underwear.
My personal journey to period underwear
For a long time, I struggled through my period with tampons and pads. Tampons often felt uncomfortable, and pads simply weren't reliable enough. When I was diagnosed with endometriosis, I began to search more intensively for ways to make my period more comfortable. I wanted a solution that wouldn't put additional stress on my body.
A friend introduced me to Gotyu period underwear. At first, I was skeptical – would it really be safe? Would I feel comfortable? But I was willing to try anything that might help me. And today I can say: I never would have imagined such a simple change would make such a big difference.
Why can period underwear reduce pain?
Tampons and menstrual cups can put stress on the body because they unconsciously activate the pelvic floor muscles. This can increase pain instead of relieving it, because the muscles cannot relax and instead cramp. Period underwear, on the other hand, fits softly without exerting pressure – neither internally nor externally – and simply allows the body to be as it is. This can make a huge difference.
My experience with different models from Gotyu
After my first positive experience with Gotyu period underwear, I wanted to find out which models worked best for me. I tried different cuts and absorbency levels – and these are my favorites:
-
Gaia : Perfect for on the go, at the office, or while traveling because it opens on the side. This means I can easily change without having to undress completely.
-
Luna : My absolute nighttime lifesaver. Endometriosis can cause particularly heavy bleeding, and I was always afraid of leaking at night. With Luna, I can finally sleep through the night without constantly waking up to check if everything's okay.
-
Hera : The high waistband feels incredibly comfortable, especially on days when I feel bloated and uncomfortable. It gives me a sense of security and comfort.
- Heavy Flow Set : With our Heavy Flow Set you get one pair of each of the models mentioned and are optimally prepared for your period.
Be more conscious about my cycle
Another aspect I only really discovered with period underwear: I'm much more aware of my cycle. I can feel exactly when my period starts, how my body is changing, and what it needs at that moment. Free bleeding has allowed me to approach my period in a completely different way – and it's helped me better understand and manage my symptoms.
Why more awareness of endometriosis is important
Did you know that in Germany, approximately two million menstruating women suffer from endometriosis (plus an unreported number of unreported cases). Diagnosis takes an average of seven and a half years—an incredibly long period filled with uncertainty and pain. Therefore, March 1993 was declared "Endometriosis Awareness Month" to raise awareness of this disease.
I think it's important to talk not only about endometriosis, but also about possible ways to alleviate its symptoms. Of course, period underwear isn't a cure, but if it provides even a little bit of relief, that's a huge win.
My conclusion: Why I won’t switch back
I never would have thought that such a simple change as switching to Gotyu period underwear would help me better manage my endometriosis symptoms. It not only gives me comfort and security, but also a whole new sense of body. So if you're also looking for a gentler, more natural solution, I highly recommend you try it for yourself.
